SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION FRAMEWORK 2026-2030
The development of this new UN Cooperation Framework 2026–2030 was informed by a comprehensive, integrated, and multisectoral analysis of the situation and needs in the country, as well as an independent evaluation of the previous UN Cooperation Framework 2021–2025. Extensive consultations with Government counterparts, international development partners, civil society, and other stakeholders were also undertaken to ensure inclusiveness and inform interventions so that they meet the needs of all people in North Macedonia, particularly those at risk of being left behind.
As the UN Cooperation Framework represents the UN’s collective offer in support of the Government of North Macedonia’s national development priorities, identification of the below interconnected and mutually reinforcing Strategic Priorities was also heavily informed by and aligned to the NDS.
Strategic Priority 1: Inclusive Social and Human Development
Strategic Priority 2: Sustainable Economy and Decent Work
Strategic Priority 3: Resilient and Green Society and Ecosystems
Strategic Priority 4: Rule of Law and Good Governance
These Strategic Priorities and associated outcome also contribute to the EU’s ‘Western Balkans Reform and Growth Facility 2024–2027’ that outline the milestones to be met towards North Macedonia’s accession to the bloc. The UN Cooperation Framework also reflects the ‘Six Transitions’ where appropriate as catalysts to accelerate progress towards the SDGs. In addition, through the configuration process, the United Nations has identified the necessary expertise, as well as the technical and financial capacities, to provide the required support for achieving the agreed targets.
