About the event
We marked the launch of the “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, which this year calls for changing the stories that silence or downplay violence and for bringing into focus its often-invisible forms: economic violence, technology-facilitated gender-based violence, psychological abuse, and violence against women in public life.
In partnership with the Ministry of Social Policy, Demographics and Youth, the EU Delegation, the OSCE Mission to Skopje, diplomatic missions and many other allies, we delivered a unified message: progress has been made, yet the challenge persists. The next crucial step is effective implementation and a shift in societal attitudes.
The campaign urges institutions, communities and individuals to take a clear stand against all forms of gender-based violence. It calls for a culture of prevention grounded in respect, equality and zero tolerance for abuse. The goal is for every woman and girl in North Macedonia to live free from violence, to fully exercise her rights, and to feel safe at home, at work, at school, in her community and in public life.
Now is the time to come together and change the narrative. It is time to end violence against women and girls.
