About the event
The workshop aimed to strengthen auditors’ knowledge and capacities for applying a gender-sensitive approach in audit work and public financial management.
Auditor General Maksim Acevski, and Martin Nacevski, Programme Analyst at UN Women, highlighted the importance of integrating gender equality into audit processes and public policies.
The training was delivered by experts Neda Maleska Sachmaroska, and Neda Chalovska Dimovska, who combined theory with practical examples to ensure an interactive and dynamic learning experience.
During the workshop:
- Day 1 focused on key concepts of gender equality and gender-responsive budgeting;
- Day 2 emphasized the practical application of gender audit methodology through case studies in health care, social protection, and defence and security;
- Day 3 addressed the application of gender audits in local self-government units and the field of sports;
Practical experiences in conducting gender audits were also shared by Gorast Nikoloski and Admirim Xhaferi from the State Audit Office.
The workshop concluded with a summary of key findings and a clear message:
Integrating a gender perspective leads to higher-quality audits and fairer public policies.
The workshop was implemented in the framework of the UN Women project “Promoting Gender Responsive Policies and Budgets: Towards Transparent, Inclusive and Accountable Governance in the Republic of North Macedonia – Phase 2” funded by Switzerland and the programme “Promoting Gender Responsive Governance in the Republic of North Macedonia” funded by Sweden.
