UNICEF with the support of Sweden is launching a series of innovation camps designed for young researchers and students in the natural sciences.

About the event
The first camp was held between the 26th and 28th of October and the goal was to help the Macedonian Ecological Society in Locating the Balkan Lynx. To answer the critical challenge of locating and protecting the Balkan lynx as one of the endangered animal species in North Macedonia, the camp provided a platform for these young minds to collaborate, innovate and devise solutions that will contribute to the protection of the Balkan lynx. Estimates are that there are only about 40 individuals of the Balkan lynx left in the country, so the urgency to find effective methods for their location, monitoring and preservation is immediate.
The next Innovation camp is scheduled for December 18th to 20th and will be aimed at Promotion and education about the treasures of the Botanical Garden - Skopje. During this camp young researchers and scientists will have the opportunity within 48 hours to work in a team of 5 people on creating the most innovative solution. The winning team receives funding for the implementation of the solution together with the Botanical Garden-Skopje.
The project "Innovation Camps in cooperation with the Experiential Learning Network" is implemented by LEAD- Leaders for Education, Activism and Development with the support of UNICEF and Sweden.
