On December 12 & 13, UNDP in partnership with the Ministry of Local Self - Government organized the traditional Annual Conference on Decentralization and Local Government. Challenges and opportunities in times of crisis, fiscal decentralization, connections between businesses and local economic development, the future of local self-government and EU perspectives were the key topics discussed at the event.

"UNDP, as a long-term partner of the country, is working to assess the conditions related to local self-government, is preparing recommendations and implementing specific project activities to strengthen local self-government units, in order to strengthen their capacities to perform their responsibilities. Our overall work at the local level is motivated by the goal of building a more efficient, resilient, responsible and transparent local government, with the ultimate mission of improving the quality of life of citizens," said UNDP Resident Representative Armen Grigoryan.
