The Office of the United Nations Population Fund – UNFPA and the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, this year traditionally celebrated the “Older People Care Week” from November 21 to 28 under the motto: “We are all their children”. The aim of celebrating the week is to raise the awareness of the population about the rights of the elderly, as well as the necessary care and assistance of the elderly.
A series of informative workshops were held during the week, which were supported by UNFPA on health and social protection rights for the elderly, educational workshops on the presentation of the Home Care service and information on measuring blood sugar and blood pressure. The events took place in cooperation with the Association of Pensioners, special educators involved in the training of caregivers of the elderly, volunteers in youth clubs, doctors, lawyers, psychologists and specialists from the Institute of Occupational Medicine.
The activities were implemented at the local level in several municipalities across the country, including Berovo, Bogdanci, Gostivar, Debar, Kavadarci, Zrnovci, Kriva Palanka, Krusevo, Negotino, Ohrid, Prilep, Probistip, Zletovo, Radovis, Konce, Sveti Nikole, Strumica, Struga, Tetovo and Skopje.
