Strengthening capacities of Local Youth Councils in environmental democracy
With UNICEF support, the Agency for Youth and Sport in the period from October to December worked with the Local Youth Councils of Veles, Gevgelija and Berovo,

In each of the municipalities, young people identified small scale eco-solutions, which where then together with an expert developed into a project and presented in front of an audience of municipal authorities: mayors, presidents of councils, councilors, municipal administration etc.
Portable eco-friendly stadium seats in Berovo, smart solar-powered benches in Gevgelija and municipal recycling vending machines in Veles, were the choices of the youth towards the improvement of the environment in their municipalities but also to serve for wider public awareness raising about environmental issues.
Local authorities expressed strong commitment to support the implementation of these projects by including them in their 2024 municipal budgets, to be adopted by the municipal councils this December.
