Today in the premises of the State University in Tetovo there is a public hearing on the Draft Management Plan for NP Shar Planina (2022-2030) and a public hearing on the Draft Strategic Assessment of the Management Plan for NP Shar Planina (2022-2030).
The public hearings conclude the process of public consultation regarding these two planning documents that pave the way for sustainable development of the protected area for the next 10 years.
- Our goal is not to make a natural museum, but to put this area under a certain degree of protection, and at the same time to enable sustainable development of the area and socio-economic development for the residents - emphasized Minister Nuredini in the opening address, stressing that the Park must function on legal regulations and with solid planning documents that will protect the natural values and interests of residents.
Director of UNP Shar Mountain, Ibrahim Dehari informed the public about the processes of establishing the National Park Management System, indicating that now is the right time to ask questions and share comments and suggestions, either at the public hearing or during the next two weeks, so that they can be considered and if they are supported, they can be included in the planning documentation.
UNEP's coordinator for projects for the Western Balkans, Iskra Stoyanova also addressed the event, and announced a new donor project "STAR 7", which will contribute to overcoming the challenges faced by the newly established national park.
The events were also attended by a delegation of the Kosovo Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure led by Deputy Minister Linda Cavdarbasha who expressed readiness for cooperation and exchange of experiences from the management of NP Shari - the part of the Sharplanin massif on the Kosovo side.
