The development of the National Youth Strategy has begun with the support of UNFPA, UNDP and OSCE

“Young people are a key part in demographic movements and building demographic resilience. They will be a key part in the new national demographic strategy, which will be developed with the support of UNFPA. The investment made in every young person is an investment that will simultaneously affect several generations, and will also define the future of the world.”

This was stated today in Skopje by Jovanka Brajovic Grigorijevic, Acting Head of the United Nations Population Fund  – UNFPA Office, at the Conference which marks the beginning of the development of the National Youth Strategy, carried out by the Agency for Youth and Sport, with the support of the United Nations Population Fund – UNFPA, the United Nations Development Program – UNDP and the OSCE Mission in Skopje.

“Today, there are more than 1.8 billion young people aged 10-24 in the world, which actually represents almost a quarter of the world’s population. This is a very significant category of the population, not only because of the number, but also because of the fact that the future of the world lies in the youth,” she added.

The process of creating the Strategy will be followed by a broad consultation with young people through social media and various digital tools under the motto “get involved”.  The National Youth Strategy is expected to be finalized by December 2022.
