IOMMedia and Communication Associate
JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the implementation of a communication strategy for the IOM Mission in North Macedonia and assist to identify opportunities to implement new communication activities.
- Contribute to the online presence of IOM’s strategies and activities in the country and to the production of regular content for different social media platforms, in line with the overall communication strategy.
- Assist in writing, research, editing of digital stories, related to IOM’s work in the country.
- Create simple infographics, info snapshots (photo + text), and other visuals, etc. contributing to enhancing the general public’s access to up-to-date and accurate information about the migration situation and IOM’s response.
- Draft and exhibit content to showcase IOM activities at external events.
- Collaborate closely with programme staff to assist in producing content and infographics to increase IOM’s new and human-interest stories, especially with field staff to ensure that photo material and data needed for social media, or any external communication is obtained in a timely manner, and in accordance to IOM’s data protection principles.
- Be responsible for the timely and efficient publication and distribution of media content on the mission website and via other IOM media channels, websites, social media etc. Support timely posting of IOM activities and events for IOM’s social media presence on X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other online networks.
- Assist in the production of public information materials for IOM press briefing notes, regular newsletters, website, and social media.
- Support the implementation of new communications initiatives, including campaign concepts, methodologies, and plans for targeted and unique social media campaigns.
- Act as media focal point, monitor media and communications by and about IOM in the country, assist in improving visibility and enhance media engagement and presence at events organized by IOM North Macedonia.
- Attend all communication groups IOM North Macedonia takes part in and contribute to all activities envisaged and planned by communication groups, including reporting on IOM North Macedonia activities.
- Provide support for the promotion of IOM global campaigns and UN-led campaigns, including liaising with the United Nations and other interlocutors.
- Support the organization of public and closed communication events.
- Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- University Degree in Media, Communications, Graphic Design, Public Information, Journalism, or related field from an accredited academic institution and at least two years of relevant professional experience, or
- High School diploma from an accredited academic institution and at least four years of relevant professional experience
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
- Experience in the area of Media and Communications in the UN system or similar agency and/or experience in working for a news media organization;
- Good knowledge of CMS systems, including social media, email automation software (Mailchimp), Canva, Office 365 and Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro);
- Excellent writing and drafting skills;
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including experience related to media and communication and to represent to media, general public and counterparts.
- Computer literacy.
- Experience in drafting press releases, newsletters, success stories, proofreading and media interactions.
- Knowledge of graphic design, web, social media and video production.
- Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure with minimum supervision.
- Attention to detail and ability to organize.
- Self-motivated and objective driven.
Languages
- For this position, fluency in English and Macedonian language is required (oral and written)
