Efficient laboratory systems with well-functioning, sustainable laboratory services, operating according to international principles of quality and safety, are an essential part of strong health systems and are crucial for facing such a public health event as COVID-19 pandemic.

About the event
A key method for effective and efficient strengthening of medical laboratories is the implementation of a quality management system (QMS) based on the international quality standard ISO 15189:2012. The purpose of this training was to train national mentors (quality managers and/or heads of laboratories involved in laboratory quality management implementation) who will in turn support public health laboratories of the Balkan countries in implementing quality management systems.
