Strengthening gender equality collaboration with the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth

UN Women continues the cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth. At the meeting between our Head of Office, Vesna Ivanovikj-Castarede and the Minister of Social Policy, Demography and Youth, Fatmir Limani, key topics related to gender equality, the empowerment of women and their position in the society of the Republic of North Macedonia were discussed. Special attention was given to gender responsive budgeting, the Resource Center for Gender Responsive Policy Making and Budgeting, as well as alignment with European standards, using statistical data for women and men. 

The Ministry expressed willingness to commit to all processes that contribute to the advancement and protection of the position of women in society, including prevention and protection from discrimination, as well as protection from gender-based violence and any other type of violence. The Minister showed a strong commitment to continue and deepen the cooperation in the future, with the aim of building a just and equal society, where women have a powerful and reliable role.
