Over one hundred and fifty anti-corruption practitioners from the Western Balkans jurisdictions gathered at a high-level Regional Anti-Corruption Conference in Skopje, hosted by the Government of North Macedonia, to reaffirm their commitment to the fight against corruption in the context of the Regional Anti-Corruption and Illicit Finance Roadmap. Senior Government representatives and speakers from the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States reiterated the importance of combating corruption through a sustained, joint effort.
During the technical level segment, organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in cooperation with the Regional Anti-corruption Initiative (RAI), the participants outlined the key achievements under the Roadmap to date, the challenges and the next steps towards the implementation of the Roadmap under its three priority areas. In the third and final segment, civil society organizations from the Western Balkans and beyond discussed the importance of the participation of groups and individuals outside the public sector in preventing corruption and implementing the Roadmap.
The Government of the United Kingdom generously funded the event.
