Stakeholder training on Agenda 2030 held in Skopje

20 shtator 2021

Representatives of central and local governments, media, private sector, civil society, and international organizations took part in the Agenda 2030 workshop.

Fifty representatives of central and local governments, media, private sector, civil society, and international organizations took part in the stakeholder training on Agenda 2030 that was organized today in Skopje by the UN Resident Coordinator Office in cooperation with the UN System Staff College.

The objective of this workshop is to provide a more in-depth understanding of the concepts underlying the 2030 Agenda and how the sustainable development dimensions interact with each other, as well as to explore the linkage to the national development objectives and policies.

North Macedonia, along with 193 United Nations Member States, adopted the 2030 Agenda and committed to working towards achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals back in 2015.

“There has been considerable progress both globally and locally in the past few years, but also some complex challenges, including the COVID19 pandemic. To really accelerate our development towards Agenda 2030, we must ensure broad ownership and action and use all the lessons we collected during the COVID19 crisis,” says Rossana Dudziak, UN Resident Coordinator in North Macedonia. “Very often the Agenda is mistakenly considered as a “UN agenda”. This cannot be further from the truth.  Advancing the 2030 Agenda will require a whole-of-society approach and a whole-of-system response to identify country relevant priorities and strategic interventions to accelerate socioeconomic and environment progress in an integrative way.”

The workshop was a unique opportunity for the participants to engage in hands-on exercises to understand the 2030 Agenda in more detail and explore relevant country examples of the integration of SDGs into national and regional (EU) agendas.

This training was provided by the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC). With its headquarters in Turin (Italy) and its second campus in Bonn (Germany), the UNSSC is a centre of excellence for training and knowledge management within the UN system, reaching over 10,000 beneficiaries within and outside the UN each year. Since 2015, all of the Staff College’s learning and training activities are geared towards enabling the UN system and its partners to address the challenges posed by the adoption of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
